STRIKE TEAM ARCHANGEL, Twitchy Dolphin's new action flick, wrapped shooting with a few final scenes and a rousing private party for cast and crew. This marks another huge milestone for Twitchy Dolphin Flix as we, somewhat accidentally, accomplished a long-planned goal of shooting TWO feature films in a single year.
Originally entitled "Strike Team Eidolon: False Messiah", we started filming just after the Oct. 25 SCARLET WATERS premier party for our four short horror films. The intention was to shoot one last short before year-end as the first in a new series of action shorts. As we got started though, an unplanned contribution of a new original song by musician Tim Daniel inspired a name change to "Strike Team Eidolon: Shallow Grave". Then we were so excited by the quality of the story, acting, and early shots that the first 20 minute script ended up growing to about 50 minutes — a little long for a short, a little short for a feature. As Jim and Nathan pondered this dilemma, they lamented that we didn't have just another 20 minutes or so to shoot. The next morning Jim called to say he'd stayed up all night and written about 20 new minutes of back story to better develop the characters. Hey, that's just how we roll here at Twitchy. The story revolves around an elite group of soldiers operating secretly to combat terrorism, foreign or domestic, within the United States. We called them Strike Team Eidolon because they work amongst us like ghosts, invisibly protecting us — in this particular case from the blood-thirsty leader of a religious cult. After a while though, we had been asked so many times what "eidolon" meant, we just decided to rename it again to STRIKE TEAM ARCHANGEL. We'll be releasing STRIKE TEAM ARCHANGEL next year some time after we've made the rounds promoting FUNNY BOOKS, the first feature film we shot back in February and March of 2008. Post-production on FUNNY BOOKS has been ongoing throughout the year and so far everything we've seen of this comedy by, for, and about comic fans is freakin' hysterical. Check out these early previews for both films: This STRIKE TEAM preview features Tim Daniel's original song, actual scenes from the movie, and the old title.
This FUNNY BOOKS teaser is it's own little stand-alone mini-movie designed to give you a taste for the film and some of the characters without using any of the actual footage from the movie. We can't wait to release both STRIKE TEAM ARCHANGEL and FUNNY BOOKS in 2009.
