VAMPRESS accepted into San Antonio Horrific Film Fest

VAMPRESS DVD Cover   Horror fans delight, Twitchy Dolphin's short film VAMPRESS has been officially accepted into the San Antonio Horrific Film Fest set for August 27-30, 2009 at the Alamo Drafthouse: Westlakes...ironically the same location we will be screening FUNNY BOOKS just days ealier on Saturday, August 15.

We're very proud of VAMPRESS and so happy for the cast and crew who worked so hard on this movie. We set out to make a sexy, hip vampire movie with a decidedly modern feel while staying very true to past cinematic vampire classics. This flick also shows just how technically ingenious we can be with lots of stakes through hearts, rave scenes, and other effects-driven visuals.

This also marks Twitchy Dolphin's second festival appearance after having won the award for Best Special F/X for SCORNED at the 2008 fest.

SCARLET WATERS

Both VAMPRESS and SCORNED are available now on DVD as part of the Twitchy Dolphin Flix release SCARLET WATERS. It was in fact last year's acceptance of SCORNED into the festival that led to the creation of the SCARLET WATERS concept.

When we learned SCORNED had been accepted in July 2008 it was Twitchy Dolphin's first festival appearance and we immediately knew we wanted to release it on DVD. As a 20-minute short film however, SCORNED couldn't support it's own individual release; but since it was also our first foray into the horror genre, we didn't have anything to add to it either.

Undaunted, in true Twitchy fashion, we simply decided to make more movies. More specifically, we decided any DVD needed at least three more shorts films of similar length to bring it reasonably close to a feature-length amount of content. We also decided Halloween would be a great time to release all the shorts. Halloween of THAT year!

Work on four separate scripts began simultaneously, three written by James Christopher; the fourth by first-time screenwriter Will Casto. During the heat of August and September filming proceeded with Christopher directing two of his scripts VAMPRESS and WRITER'S BLOCK, and Casto directing his script DETOUR - a first for both Casto and Twitchy Dolphin Flix.

Post-production on all three occurred throughout late September and October and was completed just in time for a blow-out release party on Saturday, October 25, 2008. Along the way we gave the "dolphin/ocean" theme a bloody twist to come up with the SCARLET WATERS name and had so much fun doing all of it we decided why stop there? Why not make it an annual event?

So, again in true Twitchy fashion, in addition to all our ongoing FUNNY BOOKS screenings, festival appearances, and filming our latest feature LOOK AT ME AGAIN, we are also actively working on several new horror shorts for this year's edition of SCARLET WATERS.

Keep checking in for more details and come to the FUNNY BOOKS screening on Saturday, August 15 at the Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes in San Antonio for a sneak preview of one of the new shorts, WEREBITCHES!
